Thanks to the UBRP Travel Award, I was able to present my research at an international meeting! The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) holds an international conference for researchers in the field of eye and vision annually. ARVO is one of the largest and most respected vision and ophthalmology research organizations in the world.

The ARVO conference held a social event at the Museum of Flight, which allowed me to connect with top researchers in the fields of vision science and ophthalmology.

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to present my research at the ARVO 2024 conference. The conference was held in beautiful Seattle, Washington, and reported almost 12,000 attendees. While presenting my conference, I was able to share the work being done by the University of Arizona in the field of ophthalmology. I met researchers and doctors from around the world including but not limited to Ireland, England, Germany, India, Japan, and various other US states. With the Travel Award provided by UBRP, making this trip to present my work was made possible.

Throughout my time participating in UBRP I was able to truly delve into my research and find a love for vision science and ophthalmology. I was also able to connect with a truly amazing mentor, Dr. Brian McKay, and his awe-inspiring lab. Without the UBRP program, I do not believe presenting at this conference (as one of the few undergrads there!!) would have been possible. I am beyond grateful for all of the experience I have gained throughout my time as a UBRP student.
