In addition to conducting research and participating in scientific seminars, professional development activities, and social events, the students of the Undergraduate Biology Research Program engage in outreach activities to help the surrounding community and the general public better understand science. Our UBRP Ambassadors are student representatives for the program, and serve as liaisons to the University of Arizona campus and to the community, and the Pen Pals Program allow UBRP students to work with middle school students to foster an interest in science and in education. UBRP students also serve as guest speakers on the radio program “Thesis Thursday” aired every Thursday on 91.3 KXCI, Tucson’s Community Radio Station, where they discuss the research they conduct, as well as share their favorite songs. UBRP also offers seminars and panels that are free and open to the public.
