UBRP is a research program that supports students in the conduct of research in fields related to biology under the guidance of a faculty mentor. UBRP is a program that is almost 40 years old and has supported over 2,500 students at the University of Arizona. We are interested in understanding this program as a return on investment from the perspective of students’ time, funding, mentors time, and as a flagship program for the University of Arizona.

The overall purpose of this study is to characterize the impact and value of participating in the Undergraduate Biology Research Program (UBRP) for undergraduates both immediately and long term. We are asking you to participate in a research study to help us understand the impact of UBRP. If you choose to participate, you will be asked to complete an online survey and then given the opportunity to do a follow up interview. Participating in the study is completely voluntary and you will not be paid for your participation. Not participating in the study will not impact any admissions, academic or work relationship you have or will have with the University of Arizona. All data provided will be kept confidential. All identifiable data will be removed from the dataset and all data will be coded with a number and stored in an encrypted drive. Only the research team will have access to your data. An Institutional Review Board responsible for human subjects research at The University of Arizona reviewed this research project and found it to be acceptable, according to applicable state and federal regulations and University policies designed to protect the rights and welfare of participants in research.
