LeCario Benashley on KXCI’s “Thesis Thursday” – 11/14/19

My name is LeCario Benashley and I am a third-year student at the University of Arizona. Prior to becoming a first-generation college student, I lived all my life on the rural Fort Apache Indian Reservation in Northeastern Arizona. Degree wise, my major is Care Health and Society (CHS) with a minor in Pre-Health. I left my lovely home three years ago to pursue these credentials, but when I left, I made the promise to return as soon as I am a board-certified physician, so I can help my community’s overall health one person at a time. My current research in Dr Jennifer Bea’s lab echoes this commitment to bettering people’s lives; we accomplish this by applying evidence-based cancer prevention and control methodologies to the populations which need it the most. Outside of school and research, you’ll often find me with family and friends, or by a good book with music playing.
