29th Annual Conference

The 29th Annual Undergraduate Biology Research Program (UBRP) Conference was held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the ENR2 Building on the University of Arizona Campus. With over 350 attendees, the conference featured keynote speaker Mohab Ibrahim, MD, PhD, an UBRP alumnus and Director of the Comprehensive Pain Management Clinic at Banner UMC, and Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology and Pharmacology, who spoke on “Shedding (Green) Light on Alternative Pain Management.” More than 110 undergraduates presented their work, and Dr. John Enemark, former UBRP Advisory Board Chair, and Carol Bender, Director of UBRP from 1989-2017, were recognized for their service to the program. UBRP mentors Dr. Daniela Zarnescu and Lindsay Guzman were also honored with the 2017 Outstanding UBRP Faculty Mentor Award and the 2017 Outstanding Graduate Student Mentor Award, respectively. The day was jam-packed with hand-on science activities, student poster presentations, and lots of good questions!
