Alondra Harris speaking on KXCI’s “Thesis Thursday” – 3/2/2017

Picture of Alondra Harris in the labI am a senior at the University of Arizona studying East Asian Studies and Molecular and Cellular Biology. Through Environmental Health Sciences – Transformative Research Undergraduate Experience (EHS-TRUE), I have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Runyan in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Medicine investigating the effects of an industrial degreasing solvent called trichloroethylene on fetal heart development. This research has opened my eyes to the damaging impact that environmental contaminants can have on human health and the importance of environmental awareness. In the future, I hope to apply the lessons I have learned through my research and the opportunities I have received in EHS-TRUE while practicing as a physician.
