Activities to Supplement the Research Experience
Professional Development Seminars: Interdisciplinary UBRP-CT students participate in a weekly professional development seminar during the summer where students learn to present their research and discuss research and educational issues.
Trips: Students can take part in field trips sponsored by the Undergraduate Biology Research Program (UBRP) which are both scientific and social in nature. Some of these include the annual saguaro fruit harvest, a visit to the artificial heart lab at the UA Health Sciences Center, and hiking in the ecologically interesting sky islands regions of Southern Arizona.
Research Seminars: Interdisciplinary CT students are encouraged to attend UBRP sponsored seminars to hear about translational research and other topics of an interdisciplinary nature. All of these are designed to introduce students to the researchers and facilities available on campus and to provide a broad view of scientific research.
