Benefits to Participation

Student at computer imageStudents gain hands-on research experience in one of UA's research laboratories. They develop an understanding of the scientific process. In addition to learning how to frame and answer scientific questions, they learn techniques, gather and interpret data, and learn how to present their experimental results verbally and in writing. This experience prepares students to be successful in graduate programs and in research careers.

Students are paid roughly $300/week for working full time during the summer. Those who are interested in continuing to work through the academic year and who have at least 15 hours a week to devote to their research can continue to work for pay or for credit. Students who have their work accepted for presentation at a scientific meeting can apply to the program for travel funds.
