We want to see YOU at the 20th
Annual UBRP Conference, on
Saturday, January 17, 2009. For many it will be
a long holiday weekend (Martin Luther King Day is celebrated
January 19) so why not spend the weekend in sunny, warm
Tucson? If you still need convincing, here are
our top ten reasons for attending the conference:
1. To interact with UBRP students and to
learn
about the incredibly cool science undergraduates are
doing at UA (from characterizing the microbial
life in Karchner Caverns, to hearing about drug development
for cancer and heart disease, to understanding more about
climate change and the specialized roles of honey bees--there
is plenty to learn!)
2. To see the new state-of-the-art Keating (BIO
5) Building on the UA Health Sciences Center Campus (the
location of this year's conference)
3. To celebrate the amazing faculty mentors
and
graduate student, postdoc and technician mentors who
make undergraduate research on our campus possible!
4. To catch up with faculty and staff and former
classmates you haven't seen in awhile
5. To recruit bright undergraduates for your research
group or company
6. To recruit bright undergraduates for graduate
programs at your institution
7. To test the premise that each undergraduate
cohort is as talented as the previous ones
8. To hear what Jared Ragland '96, UBRP alum now
in the Office of the US Trade Representative, has to
say in the keynote address
9. To enjoy mild weather in the middle of winter
10. To have a blast!
We want to see you so we hope you will be here!
