Introducing...

...faculty sponsor, Dr. John Konhilas, Assistant Professor, Physiology.  The Konhilas lab is interested in how the physiological factors of diet, exercise, disease and sex/gender impact energy substrates and/or signaling intermediates in the heart and how these, in turn, affect the ability of the heart to contract using a variety of molecular, cellular, and physiological techniques. They are also studying how heart disease leads to skeletal muscle weakness focusing on similar signaling intermediates.  Key words: cardiac mechanics and function, sex, exercise, cell signaling, energy substrate and signaling
