Opportunities and Choices

Homecoming 2008!  We Will Be There, Will You??  UBRP will be a presence at Homecoming 2008.  That is Saturday, October 25!  It's official.  We just signed up for our tent (thank you Zach Hillman!).  So if you will be at Homecoming, please drop by and see us, and maybe even talk some science!

The Pasteur Foundation of New York offers its Zuccaire Internship Program to U.S. undergraduates to conduct 10-week summer internships at the Institut Pasteur. The goal is to encourage students in the pursuit of a scientific career and to expose them to an international laboratory experience.  For more information: http://www.pasteurfoundation.org/zuccaire.html

Research Opportunity: Dr. Joyce Winzerling, Nutritional Sciences is looking for a UBRP student. The Winzerling lab studies iron metabolism in humans and in disease vectors. Biochemistry and molecular biology techniques are used to explore how insect disease vectors handle the iron load of a blood meal. They also are working in the area of smoke effects on iron metabolism of lung cancer cells. Contact Dawn L. Geiser, PhD, 621-7125
