Jill Craven, '07 is "finishing up my Fulbright in the chemical engineering department of the University of British Columbia," Vancouver, BC, Canada. Then she will "head back to Utah to get married (to UBRP alum, Devin Wiley '07) before graduate school in the fall." She will begin her doctoral studies in chemical engineering at the California Institute of Technology, Los Angeles. Jill has been awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. " I (Nicole Rasmussen '07) graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering and now, I am a mill metallurgist for one of the world's largest gold mining companies, Barrick at the flagship site, Goldstrike. A couple of weeks ago I was able to share some of the knowledge that I acquired while in UBRP with a local high school student. It was a good feeling for me to be able to pass on what I learned to someone else." As a UBRPer Nicole worked with Dr. Scott Saavadra's chemistry group. E-mail: nrasmussen@barrick.com

Kate Taralova Spriggs '07, has been awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. The Fellowship will allow Kate to pursue a doctoral degree in computer sciences at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh to study artificial intelligence, particularly in computer vision and their ability to detect human voices. While in UBRP, Kate worked with Dr. Barry Pryor, Plant Pathology. E-mail: ekaterina@taralova.net
