Letter from Alumna
Rebecca Page '93

Dear current UBRPers, UBRP alums, UBRP associates, and UBRP faculty mentors:

Next year is a very special year for the Undergraduate Biology Research Program, as it marks its 20th anniversary! To celebrate, we are inviting all alumni to return to campus for the 20th Annual UBRP Poster Conference. This will be a fantastic opportunity to catch up with old friends, network, find out what everyone is doing and discover what is going on in your "old" laboratories. We hope you can join us to celebrate this internationally recognized program.

In conjunction with this momentous occasion, UBRP will also kick off a funding campaign to establish an endowment to provide permanent support to UBRP and related activities. UBRP and its international component BRAVO! have been grant-funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, with additional funds from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Beckman Foundation, the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, faculty sponsors' research grants, BIO5 and the University of Arizona. While this highlights the incredible success of the UBRP program, it is important to recognize that funding is precarious. To guard against this, UBRP needs to insulate itself from the vagaries of grant funding and become self-supporting. An endowment will ensure that UBRP is a permanent part The University of Arizona's academic landscape for generations to come. We hope everyone will be enthusiastically participate in this effort -- in fact, if you would like to give in advance of our campaign, to help "prime the pump," click on: https://ubrp.arizona.edu/donate.cfm?

You have been touched by UBRP and know the difference it has made in your personal and professional life
.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone next year!

Who Are These People?

We thought we would share parts of the UBRP photo archive with readers of the Gazette over the next year as we approach the 20th annual UBRP Conference. Here is a photo of UBRP students and mentors taken in the early 1990s. The first person to correctly identify everyone in the picture will win a UBRP t-shirt! UBRP rocks!
