Students Supporting Brain Tumor Research Fellowship: The Students Supporting Brain Tumor Research (SSBTR) is a student-run organization that raises funds for brain tumor research. They have established a 1-year research fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Adrienne C. Scheck at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. The fellowship is open to students who have graduated college in 2007 and plan to go on to graduate/medical school or pursue a career in biomedical research following the fellowship year. The stipend is $24,000 and benefits are included. The successful applicant will have a bachelor's degree (prior to beginning the fellowship in July of 2007) and a strong desire to do cutting-edge research on various aspects of brain tumor biology including molecular mechanisms of therapy resistance, novel therapy investigations and gene expression profiling to define molecular markers of diagnosis and prognosis. Biology majors preferred, and classes/laboratory experience in molecular biology is helpful but not required. Research & Development (R&D) Colloquium for Undergraduates, October 14 -16, 2007 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals invites minority and other high potential undergraduates in chemistry and life sciences to apply for participation in this event. The two & one-half day event is intended for undergraduate students interested in learning about Research and Development in the health and beauty care industries. Call for Student Research Abstracts: Undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit an abstract for the opportunity to present their research findings at the 2007 SACNAS Conference. Submissions of abstracts in all science disciplines are encouraged (Poster Presentations - Undergraduate and graduate students; Oral Presentations - Graduate students only). Abstracts are reviewed and selected on the basis of scientific merit, originality of research and compliance with abstract guidelines and deadlines. All accepted abstracts will be published in the abstract volume and exemplary presentations will receive recognition at the awards ceremony. Travel Scholarship Application Deadline - May 31. Do not let finances prevent you from enhancing your education and career. SACNAS offers scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral researchers to attend the conference. SACNAS travel scholarships cover airfare and lodging; however, students are responsible for their own conference registration fees and membership dues. Membership dues, conference registration, and online application with supplemental materials must be submitted by the deadline in order to be fully considered for travel scholarships.
