BIOLOGY CARER SERIES: will feature professionals who draw on their education and experience in a research related career.
These individuals include a UBRP alum working as a research specialist at the Health Sciences Center (with a bachelor’s degree); as well as a program officer from Research Corporation (who oversees granting programs), a scientist at Sanofi-Aventis and a scientist who now develops new biotech companies. The event will consist of a panel presentation during which each panelist will describe what s/he does, how s/he came to be in his/her position, and other aspects of his/her particular career. Following questions from the audience, we will break for an informal dinner at which students can interact with the presenters (and NETWORK!). This event is free and open to all. It is funded by a grant to the University of Arizona from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. (5:30 PM)

Dr. Evans is interested in dynamical paleoclimatology - the study of paleoclimatic observations within the context of modern physical climatology - with particular focus on tropical processes. There are three main thrusts of the work, in which he employs tools from proxy paleoclimatology, objective analysis, and numerical modeling.
