Mayo Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship
(SURF), Rochester, Minnesota is for college students who are
currently sophomores and juniors and considering research
careers. Web-based on-line applications can be found
at www.mayo.edu/mgs/surf.html SURF is a 10-week program
where you will conduct your own small research project
or work on part of an ongoing research investigation
which will build your investigative skills and allow
you to experience biomedical research in collegial,
collaborative and highly productive environment with
exceptional technology and resources.
Mayo Graduate School, Rochester, Minnesota allows students
to choose from eight different tracks for PhD training.
In addition to specializing in one of these areas,
the program emphasizes their inter-relatedness providing
a core curriculum for all students in their first year.

teamwork involved in the pursuit of basic answers to
current question in the biological sciences. Applicants
must be enrolled in a natural science degree program at the undergraduate level and have completed the sophomore

Quantitative and Physical Sciences Summer Undergraduate
Research Fellowships sponsored by Southwestern
Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, University
of Texas.
Dallas, Texas. QP-SURF provides an intensive research
training experience that leads to and understanding
of the planning, discipline, and teamwork involved
in the pursuit of basic answers to current questions
at the interface of quantitative science and basic
biomedical research. Applicants must be enrolled in
an undergraduate physics, computer science,
mathematics or chemistry degree program and have completed the

Spring 2006 Congressional Internships – become
an intern for a US Senator or Congressman. Congressional
internships provide an opportunity for students to
gain career-related experience while learning about
public service and developing an understanding of the
legislative process. Interns also receive UA course

NIH and the Graduate Partnerships Program (GPP). A
number of formal partnerships with leading European
universities and US have been created to provide a
unique PhD training experience. GPP is designed to
prepare young scientists for the interdisciplinary,
collaborative research of the future. There are currently
16 programs to apply to. Students complete the majority
of their coursework at the home university and then
do all or part of their dissertation research at NIH.
