Kristina Irwin ‘91 has returned to Arizona and the UA. She is a research specialist in the Department of Psychology with Dr. Glitsky and Dr. Ryan working on a longitudinal study of memory and aging.” Nice to have you back Kristina. Kristina was a UBRPer in Dr. J. Bloedel’s lab, Barrows Neurological Institute, Phoenix, AZ.

UBRP alum, Faye Farmer ‘95 shared an article in the NY Times (online) about a monster catfish (9 feet long and weighing 646 lbs) in the Mekong River. UBRP alum, Zeb Hogan ’94 arrived to take a look. “It was his first trophy in a project to identify and study the world’s largest freshwater fish in the hope of slowing their extinction.” Zeb “is on an 18-month expedition that will take him to five continents and more than a dozen rivers.” Zeb was a UBRPer in Dr. David Matter’s lab, Fisheries & Wildlife Sciences and Faye was a UBRPer in Dr. Ken Feldman's lab, Plant Sciences.

Congratulations to Huy Phan ’96, UBRP alum from Dr. Lynn Manseau’s lab, Molecular & Cellular Biology, for his selection to receive the Charles W. Hall Jr. Memorial Award. The award is given annually to two outstanding recent medical school graduates working as residents for their service on the coronary care unit. The recipients are selected by a vote of cardiology faculty members. Friends and family of the late Charles W. Hall Jr. established the award to support the work of future physicians dedicated to the battle against heart disease.
