Opportunities and Choices
The UBRP office has received information and application materials
for a variety of research experience programs, grants,
scholarships, conferences, jobs, and graduate programs.
What follows is a sampling:
St. Michael's Parish Day School needs
8 students to be judges for their science fair on Monday,

Forms W-2. If you have not received your Form W-2,
read on. A new feature has been added to Employee Link.
A recent change in the IRS regulations allows employers
to electronically deliver Forms W-2 to their employees.
The 2004 Form W-2 is now available on Employee Link
in a printable form that can be filed with either a
federal or state income tax return. To access the Electronic
Form W-2, log on to Employee Link: https://emplink.arizona.edu/ Click on Payroll Info, this will display the calendar
years that the Form W-2 is available. Select the year
that you would like to view to open a printable copy
of the form. For any questions regarding these forms,

The Space Scholars Program invites
undergraduate, masters, and doctorate students in the
areas of science and
engineering to participate in a unique summer program
that may lead to graduate fellowships and full-time
employment. These opportunities exist in the Air Force
Research Laboratory's (AFRL) Space Vehicles Directorate,
which has facilities at Kirtland Air Force Base in
Albuquerque, New Mexico; Hanscom Air Force Base in
Bedford, Massachusetts; and Solar Research, Sunspot,
New Mexico. The date of transmittal/postmark must be
no later than February 25, 2005 to be considered for

Part Time Research Assistant: The USDA-ARS Honey Bee
Lab in Tucson is looking for a biology student with
exceptional skills. Are you interested to learn about
bees and parasitic mites? This exciting and vital research
is currently being conducted at our lab; it is biology
in action. Work includes making equipment (using tools
such as hammer and nails), lab work (such as mixing
solutions, counting mites, entering data and setting
up experiments) and learning about bee and mite biology.
Be part of a great team. Hours are flexible but mornings
are preferred. This is a GS-4 level job, starting at
$11.81 per hour.

Insect Biodiversity and Land Use Change
in Sonora, Mexico, Ento495/595 (3 credits). This
course is sponsored by the Center for Insect Science
and provides an introduction to insect biology and
systematics, construction of biodiversity databases,
natural history of Sonora, regional land use and change,
field collecting and identification of insects, and
theory/practice of biodiversity analysis. Please refer

5, 2005. (May 21 and June 5 are travel dates to and
from the course.)

The 80th Annual Meeting of the Southwest
and Rocky Mountain (SWARM) Regional Division of the
American
Association for the Advancement of Science will
be held April 13-16, 2005 in Tucson, Arizona. A call
for
papers (and posters) has been issued. The deadline
for submission is February 25 and should be done on
line. For more information about the conference, please

is important to note that the conference makes awards
for best poster and best presentation. UBRP
students have garnered quite a few of these in the
past decade.
