Shahnaz Kazi ’00 is “Manager of Clinical Research for the University of Chicago Hospitals Section of Rheumatology. I lead a team of clinical researchers in the study of new therapies for autoimmune diseases. I love studying disease states, managing my small staff, and working with patients. I just found out that I have been accepted to the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine for the fall of 2005.” Shahnaz was a UBRPer in Dr. Lisa Nagy’s lab, Molecular & Cellular Biology. We hear that Jacob Kagey, ’02 is enrolled in a doctoral program at Emory University in biological and biomedical sciences. Jacob was a visiting UBRPer in Dr. Mark Nelson’s lab, Pathology from Ohio Wesleyan University.

Sandra Nemeth ‘01 just finished her first semester in the Vet Sci/Micro Department’s Pathobiology program. Sandra “got my first real teaching experience this semester, running two sections of introductory microbiology lab; the students were great and I am coming to find that I really enjoy teaching.” She was a UBRPer in Dr. Li-Wen Lai’s lab, Medicine; Dr. Gary Thompson’s lab, Agriculture/Resource Economics; Dr. Eric Vu’s lab, Barrow Neurological Institute; and Dr. Michael Wells’s lab, Biochemistry & Molecular Biophysics. Elisabeth Wade Bair ‘99 (Cancer Biology), James Callegary ’95 (Environmental Chemistry & Hydrology) and Sajiv Bogavarapu ’96 (Materials Science & Engingeering) received PhDs at the UA December 2004 Commencement. Elisabeth was a visiting UBRPer in Dr. Tim Bowden’s lab, Radiation Oncology. James was a UBRPer in Dr. Judy Parrish’s lab, Geosciences, Dr. Janick Artiola’s lab, Soil & Water Science, and Dr. Bonner Denton’s lab, Chemistry. Sajiv was a UBRPer in Dr. Javier Enriquez's lab, Veterinary Science & Microbiology.
