“Medical school is going well (although lots of late nights) at UCSF,” reports David Caretto ‘04. “I am amazed at how much being in Dr. Ulreich’s lab for three years has prepared me for medical school. The information I was exposed to at the UA has had a “synergistic effect” on my learning curve at UCSF.” David was a UBRPer in Dr. Judith Ulreich’s lab, Surgery and Transplantation. James Callegary ‘96 will graduate with a Soil and Water Science PhD in December 2004. James was a UBRPer in Dr. Janick Artiola’s lab, Soil and Water Science and Dr. Bonner Denton’s lab, Chemistry. “I have been working with the USGS to help understand the hydrology of the San Pedro river basin. I am using the techniques of geophysics, more specifically electromagnetics, to study recharge in the ephemeral stream channels that are tributary to the river.” Email: callegaj@email.arizona.edu

Mark Fernandez ‘03 is on his “internal medicine rotation at Duke, which has been great. My attendings have been infectious disease specialists –- many call nights are spent reading up on every possible question they could ask.” Mark was a UBRPer in Dr. John Szivek’s Orthopedic Research lab.” Email: mmf2@duke.edu
