UBRP frequently hears about scientific meetings at
which students are encouraged to present. What follows
is information about one of these opportunities. UBRP
has, in the past, provided funds for students to travel
to present their work. Last year so many students applied
that we ran out of money. After September 1, 2004, UBRP
will again be able to offer travel funds -- up to $500/student.
UBRPers need to apply for these funds and must have
something accepted for presentation at the meeting they
seek to attend. This meeting is quite distant, but there
will be others closer to Arizona. If you have questions,
please feel free to contact Carol
Bender.
Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society
would like to extend a special invitation to student-researchers
to join other undergraduates and research scientists
from North America and abroad at the 2004 Sigma Xi Annual
Meeting and Student Research Conference in Montreal
on November 12 and 13.
The Conference will feature a POSTER COMPETITION judged
by Sigma Xi members, who are leading researchers in
their fields. All fields of science and engineering
will be represented, with a special category for interdisciplinary
presentations. Outstanding research presentations will
receive recognition to include monetary awards. Workshops,
plenary talks, networking and recruitment opportunities
will complete the two-day program.
Speakers include, among others:
David Zuzuki- Noted researcher, environmentalist and
