The Leonard Rieser Fellowship in Science, Technology, and Global Security, Chicago, Illinois is looking for fellowship applicants. Fellowships will be awarded to a limited number to students whose academic interests, extracurricular activities, and career aspirations demonstrate an interest in the role of scientists in formulating public policy and in addressing global security challenges. The 79th Annual Meeting of the Southwest and Rocky Mountain (SWARM) Regional Division of the American Association for the Advancement of Science will be held April 7-10, 2004 in Denver, Colorado. A call for papers (and posters) has been issued. The deadline for submission is February 20 and should be done on line. For more information about the conference, please visit the website at:

The 29th Annual West Coast Biological Sciences Undergraduate Research Conference (WCBSUR), San Diego, California is accepting abstracts for the conference on Saturday, April 24, 2004. Students are invited to present research dealing with any area of biology or biochemistry. Details regarding the procedures for seminar and poster presentations, as well as the abstract format can be obtained from the 2003 Colorado College WCBSUR Conference website http://ats.coloradocollege.edu/WCBSURC/. Abstract deadline is March 29, 2004.
