The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) announces it is accepting applications for the 2004 Summer Fellowships. Faculty apply electronically, on behalf of themselves and a student who may or may not be named in the proposal. Deadline for application: November 21, 2003. Awards will be $3000 to $4000 for the 8 - 10 week summer research fellowship with a minimum of $3000 designated for the student stipend. The balance of the award, if available from the donor, may be used for supplies and/or travel. Directions and the application can be found on the CUR website www.cur.org/UGSF.html

The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) is accepting applications for the 2004 Posters on the Hill program. Students apply electronically. Deadline for submission: November 21, 2003. CUR is calling for students to submit an abstract of their research that represents any of CUR's seven disciplinary divisions (Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics/Computer Science, Physics/Astronomy, Psychology, and Social Sciences). Each abstract should explain the work that was performed and discuss the importance of the work to science and society (i.e., what larger problem were you trying to solve or understand?). On Tuesday, April 20, 2004 (tentative date --- alternative date April 27th), CUR will host its 8th annual undergraduate poster session on Capitol Hill. This event will help members of Congress understand the importance of undergraduate research by talking directly with the students whom these programs impact. Criteria for selection and directions for submitting an abstract can be found on the website, http://www.cur.org/pohcall.html

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will be offering fellowsips in environmentally related fields of study. Students conducting environmental research in the physical, biological, and social sciences and engineering are eligible to apply. Requests for Applications open August 2003 and close November 20, 2003. For more information http://es.epa.gov/ncer/
