Student Showcase 2000

Since 1993 Student Showcase has celebrated student research at the UA. Participating on November 10 and 11 were the following UBRPers:

Luisa Ikner (Dr. Gerba's lab, Microbiology & Immunology), Cathy Ai (Dr. Willott's lab, Entomology), David Caretto, Chandan Kundavaram, (Dr. Ulreich's lab, Surgery/ Transplantation) Isis Calsoyas (Dr. Stratton's lab, Medicine, Hematology, Oncology) and Daniel Stoker (Dr. Fregosi's lab, Physiology).

Luisa Ikner received the President's Award for undergraduates. This award, sponsored by Dr. Peter Likins, is designed to acknowledge graduate and undergraduate students who exemplify academic scholarship and community partnership. She also received first place in the undergraduate Agriculture and Environmental Sciences Division.

Outstanding Seniors

Amit Indap (Dr. Hammer's Laboratory of Molecular Systematics and Evolution) was named Outstanding Senior in the Department of Molecular & Cellular Biology and Clare Ellsworth Aslan (Dr. Robichaux's lab, Ecology & Evolutionary Biology) in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. Clare was also the Outstanding Senior for the College of Science. They were selected on the basis of scholarship, leadership and citizenship.
