"Hello," from Amy Britt, alum from Dr. Arbas' lab, Neurobiology. "I just thought I would drop you all a line to say that I am enjoying my Family Medicine residency at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. I work LONG hours and have a ton of patients, but I am constantly learning and the interactions are quite rewarding. Paul Giger is also up here doing an Internal Medicine residency and also loving it!!" Paul was a UBRBer in Dr. Watson's lab, Family and Community Medicine. PS. "We don't miss Tucson's heat!" "I was a UBRPer in Dr. Manseau's lab, Molecular & Cellular Biology from 1992-93. Currently, I am a MD/PhD student at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. I just defended my thesis on yeast genetics last week, and I will be heading back to the last two years of medical school soon. If everything goes as planned, I will be graduating in May 2000." This came by email from Wenliang Chen wchen@emory.edu
Robert Oakes (alum from Dr. Selleck's lab, Molecular & Cellular Biology) visited the UBRP office today before he starts his MD/PhD program at Harvard. He spent the summer working at Massachusetts General Hospital. When asked how he liked Boston, he replied, "I love it, but it rains all the time (Bostonians were shocked that he never owned an umbrella and his wardrobe consisted of shorts and t-shirts). I had to invest in an umbrella, and now I saving for a winter coat!" Bobby would be happy to answer any questions or requests for advice regarding research, graduate school, medical school, Harvard or whatever. Email: roakes@student.med.
